The Facebook Buying Spree Continues – Acquires Mobile Startup Tagtile.com
Facebook has just come off the acquisition trail once again. Just last Friday the company made an offer that Tagtile.com just couldn’t refuse. The social networker just recently forked out $1 billion to acquire Instagram – a mobile photo application. It seems to me that Facebook is getting very focused on improving its mobile front. Tagtile is a mobile startup that focuses on customer rewards and mobile marketing.
Tagtile was launched with a simple goal in mind – to help local business owners build better relationships and connect to customers over smartphones. The platform is pretty darn cool. Businesses install a small Tagtile cube that customers (via smartphones) can tap on to get reward points and discounts. The Tagtile application is available for iPhones and Androids and of course must be downloaded. In the blink of an eye, targeted marketing material will be sent to those smartphones based on stores visited.
